|Fundraiser to benefit firefighter's son with leukemia|
January 30, 2014 - Orange Beach, AL (OBA) - The Lower Alabama Chapter of The Guardians of The Ribbon “Pink Heals” and The Baldwin County IAFF Professional Fire Fighters Associations would like to announce the a Pink Heals Valentine’s Day Boston Butt Sale for Cancer Awareness. The group plans to make it an annual event.
To help offset mounting medical expenses, all proceeds for this years Event will benefit Hunter Lanford, the son of 20-year veteran Orange Beach firefighter/paramedic Kevin Lanford. Hunter, 20, was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) in early January 2014.
This Pink Heals Event will be Feb. 15 in the gravel parking area at the intersection of the Foley Beach Expressway and HWY 180 (Canal Road) at The Wharf in Orange Beach from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
In addition to the Boston Butt sale, “Cindy”-the Chapter’s Pink Fire Truck will be present for those who wish to sign in Honor of, In Memory of or In Support of someone who has been affected by Cancer. LifeSouth Community Blood Center Bloodmobile will also be on site to accept blood donations on behalf of Hunter.
Donors must be 17 or older (16 with written parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and show photo I.D. For more info call 888-795-2707 or visit LifeSouth online. All donors receive a recognition item and cholesterol screening.
Members of Orange Beach L4309, Foley L4772, Gulf Shores L4858 and Daphne L4647 Professional Fire Fighter Associations will be cooking 400 Prime Pork Boston Butts to perfection and selling them for $25 each to show their support for Hunter Lanford, The Pink Heals Movement and Cancer Awareness.
To order a Boston Butt stop by any Orange Beach, Foley, Gulf Shores or Daphne Fire Station and sign up. We are asking that Butts be paid for at the time of ordering.
