Oh, what a tangled web the 2013 red snapper season has turned out to be.
Anglers and charter boat captains report there are more red snapper than they’ve seen in a long time, or ever. Yet, because of the stipulations in the Magnuson-Stevens Act, the 2013 red snapper season in Alabama will be June 1 through June 28, the shortest ever. At least that’s where it stands right now.

The 14th Annual Mystics of Pleasure Thunder Run will make one lucky participant $6,000 richer on Saturday, June 1. The public boat launch on Cotton Bayou in Orange Beach officially reopened at noon Friday, said Chris Denson, senior biologist with Alabama’s Marine Resources Division.
The popular launch had been closed since Feb. 18.

Peachtree City, Ga.-based Corporate Aircraft Solutions, operating as Oasis Aviation Services, first gained approval to do business at Gulf Shores’ Jack Edwards National Airport in February and received the green light the following month to build a heliport at The Wharf. Now, the company, which operates under the standard state and Federal Aviation Administration safety permits, is poised to increase its visibility with a helipad on Perdido Beach Boulevard near the Caribe towers.

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – The first turtle patrol for me this year turned out to be quite eventful. As a Share the Beach volunteer I walk the beach once a week for about 1.5 miles at sunup looking for signs momma turtles came in overnight and laid eggs.
