Gulf Shores library announces new art exhibit | al.com

GULF SHORES, Alabama – The Gulf Shores Library announces a new exhibit of art by regional artist George Willis Tate.  A graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile and the University of Southern Mississippi, Tate went on to complete a graduate degree summa cum laude at Penn State as well as further studies at Stanford, Northwestern, and George Washington Universities.

For 14 months, the Baldwin County Library Cooperative didn’t pay its $1,055.55 a month rent to the county.

The library, which rents space at the Baldwin County Central Annex in Robertsdale, thought the county had agreed to waive the rent.

MAGNOLIA SPRINGS — Magnolia Springs Public Library will begin the new year with a check.

That’s because during its regular meeting last week, the Magnolia Springs Town Council voted to provide the library with $9,000 in funding for the 2013 fiscal year, with the expenditure being broken down into quarterly payments of $2,500.

FAIRHOPE, Alabama — Members of the Alpha Gamma Chapter hosted guest speaker Alan Samry at a recently meeting.

Samry, a reference assistant librarian at the Fairhope Public Library, gave a talk and slide presentation of the Clay City People. Samry, who said he became fascinated with the history behind Clay City, decided to explore the intricacies of Clay City, its people and how the Clay City bricks were made.
